T.R.O.U.B.L.E

Even though I'm going on 3 hours of sleep (Kylie has another ear infection), I have to post about this. When we got home tonight, I was going through the mail. Kylie picked up a bowl off the floor that she had pulled out of the "tupperware" cabinet this morning. I told her to throw it in the sink. I thought I was kidding myself and was sure that she had no idea what a sink was, much less how to "throw" it in there. She ran over to the sink, got on her tippy toes & drop it in the sink. I almost cried I was so shocked.

Then, during dinner, she stuck her hand in her bowl of yogurt and then started to lick it off her hand. I said "no, no, use your spoon". So, she used her spoon to scrap it off her hand!

We are in T.R.O.U.B.L.E!!!!

Kylie's 1st sentence!

Kylie just said "I see dada" plain as day. I just about passed out! She loves looking at people through things. She went around her table & laid down on the floor & was looking at us through the legs.

Curtis says her 1st sentence was "I don't wanna". I'm not convinced she really said that but this time it was very clear. I think I'm still shocked. She's growing up so fast!

She said "eggs" this morning & finally ate scrambled eggs. This past week she said "mailbox" & "trash".

We were just going to share ours with her but she wanted to do it!

Visit from the Davis Great Grandparents

Curtis' grandparents drove in from Colorado last Thursday. They were able to go to Sign & Sing with us. Now they know a little sign language! Learn something new everyday. Kylie was more than happy to show off all her toys when we got home. She also would not stop talking. It was to cute. I think she was telling them about her toys, etc. I have a little video sample of Miss Motor Mouth. I will post that tomorrow.

Friday we all went to the zoo to see the new bear addition, Teton Trek. It is really nice. We are now members of the zoo! Kylie liked the seals the best on this trip. They were swimming at the glass trying to get her hand!

Saturday, Curtis & I took Kylie to the park. She cannot get enough of sliding. The grandparents came over & we grilled out for dinner. Yum Yum! Kylie loves corn on the cob. (pics coming soon)

Sunday the weather was amazing. My mom, Curtis & I took Kylie to My Big Backyard at the Botanic Gardens. The "musical house" is by far her favorite spot here. We are now members of the Botantic Gardens!

Speaking of memberships, we are also members of the Children's Musuem. My mom & I took Kylie a few weeks ago. She's a little young for most of the stuff but she really enjoyed the toddler area & shopping at Kroger.

To behind to catch up

Wow! I'm ashamed at how long it's been since I've updated on here. We've been busy busy.

We got a Children's Museum membership since Kylie loved it.

We are doing Sign & Sing Kindermusik & a regular Kindermusik class. Kylie likes to gather as many balls as she can & lay on them. But she's getting good at clean up...only in class though!

Zoo Boo was Friday night. Kylie was a monkey! She loved the Wizard of Oz musical snippet that we saw. She just sat in my lap & watched them sing & dance around.

Saturday we met Milly, Britton, Jamie & Addie Beth at Priddy Farms to find us some pumpkins!

Learning too fast

I am still shocked at how quickly Kylie learns new things. This past week, she started drinking from a straw. She absolutely loves to share a glass of water with us! She can also get herself on/off her Sit N Ride and even move it forward some while on it. She can point to her knees, toes, head & nose. We are working on ears, eyes & mouth.

It won't be too much longer before she is walking. She is starting to let go & stand by herself. She practically runs along the couch to get to something on the other end.

Kylie got her first haircut on June 18th, which was also our 4th anniversary! She did great & I will be posting pictures soon on our picture website.

Now, I have to start planning her 1st birthday party. I cannot believe my little Kylie girl is growing up so fast.

Talking up a storm

Kylie has been busy trying out words lately. Her favorite word is baba. She says ba for ball. She said puppy twice last week. I'm pretty sure she's saying duck & book. Of course, mama & dada but she doesn't say those much either.

Grandma Davis just went home. She was here almost a week. Kylie loved having someone new to play with & boss around :) They spent all day together yesterday & I'm proud to report that Grandma survived in one piece!

Kylie is at the stage where dropping and/or throwing stuff on the ground is fun. I'm ready for this stage to end already. She has also been working on fake fit throwing. Which is kind of cute & funny but totally pathetic & not encouraged!

Last Monday, she moved up to the 1 year old room. She really likes it so far. I'm wondering what new good/bad habits they will teach her.

9 month stats

Kylie is perfectly healthy! She weighed 20 lb 10 oz (50-75%) & is 29.5 inches (95%+) long. She has also met all her milestones!

Silly girl

Could she be any more disgusted at the camera?!

Daycare Spring program

We found out her onesie didn't want to stay buttoned once we got there. Please ignore that!

Crawling

She's crawling! It's so cute. She hasn't quite figured out her freedom yet but I'm sure that won't take long. I'll try to get a good video soon & post it for everyone.

It's been a while since I updated here. Recently, Kylie has learned to wave, clap and sit up by herself. She says baba & mama but not to anything specific! I cannot believe she will be 8 months old in a few days. She loves finger foods & sometimes refuses anything else. She is a big girl & likes to do it herself. I'm still trying to make most of her food but that's becoming a bit more challenging.

Poor Kylie's been sick

Actually, we've all been sick this week. Poor Kylie started getting congested on Saturday. It just got worse & worse. I took her to the doctor on Monday & he just said to give her Benadryl & Tylenol. Then she started getting a fever Tuesday afternoon. It stayed pretty low but it was constant for 24 hrs so we took her back to the doctor yesterday. This time there was a little fluid behind one ear so they gave her antibiotics. It has not been fun. The poor thing can't hardly eat. She hates all the medicine. She completely despises the nose sucker. I have enjoyed our cuddle/rocking time but I'm ready for her to feel better again. I miss my laughs & smiles & kisses. I'm really hoping she will be much better after today.

Before getting sick, she was working very hard on learning to crawl! It will be any day now I'm sure.

Starting next week, I will be taking her to swim classes! I'm excited. She really needs some exposure since we do have a pool.

Starting daycare

We've been busy the last few days. Saturday we met with a photographer at the Collierville Town Square for a Kylie Bug photo shoot. It was very windy but besides that Kylie did wonderful. She didn't exactly want to look at the camera but I think we will have some great pictures.

Today was stressful for mommy! It was so hard to drop Kylie off at daycare. She did fine except for napping but hopefully that will improve soon. The teachers loved her & thought she had been in another daycare previously because of how well she did on her first day!

I really think this part time job will work out perfect. I don't think it will take me long to get back into the swing of things. I'm really hoping it is a good balance for both Kylie and I. She will love all the attention at daycare and playing with other babies and toys.

I'm looking forward to just hanging out with her all day tomorrow though!

Pushed up on all 4's

I've been helping Kylie get up on her hands & knees a little lately but she hasn't been interested at ALL. She absolutely hated it. Monday she actually started holding herself up a little. Then she laid on her belly & pushed back up! I was SHOCKED. She did it again tonight!

Her sitting has improved quite a bit in the past week also. The doctor watched her sit today & said she "passed" but that she needed to lose tone in her back before she could really balance. So apparently he wants her to have crappy posture!

6 month check-up

We just got back from Kylie's 6 month check-up. She's doing great, of course! The doctor said we should clone her. The nurse said Kylie would be good for her blood pressure! They both offered to take her home. She tried to talk to everyone in the waiting room! She screams to get there attention & then just smiles.

She weighs 16lbs 8oz (95%) and is 27 1/4" (90%) long. She passed all the questions they ask except for saying "dada" and "baba".

She did NOT like getting her shots. I swear the nurse was a lot slower than last time though. She just kept telling Kylie she was sorry because Kylie was so happy before the shots.

We'll go back at 9 months & there will be NO shots at that visit.

Sorry, can't figure out how to rotate the picture & Kylie is ready to play!

Happy 6 Months to Miss Kylie Bug

We had a mini snow party for her! No cake though :(

Kylie & Addie's playdate

Alaina & her mom were watching Addie this afternoon so we took Kylie over for a visit! How cute! Kylie taught Addie how to chew, lick & bite on plastic cups! Then she read her a book. They were rolling all over the place and taking each others toys! They are growing up SO fast.

Kylie's 6 month birthday is tomorrow. I absolutely cannot believe it.

Busy Kylie Bug

She always wants to go. She's become so much more active lately. She dives towards toys or Mommy & Daddy. She pushes away when you're holding her. She's just busy, busy all the time.

We haven't found a food she won't eat. Let me see if I can list what she's had since we started solids at the beginning of 2009. Of course, rice cereal & oatmeal. Then avocado, sweet potatoes, sweet peas, green beans, pears, banana, butternut squash. All this has been homemade! Next will be apples. Then maybe zucchini, peach & apricots.

She loves balls and gets very mad at Kindermusik when we have to put them away.

She is very social. She's much happier during the day if we get out of the house some. She loves to look around the stores & flirt/smile at people. I see many embarrassing situations in my future when she learns to talk to these strangers.

She thought she'd try to get herself out of the bouncy last week! So now we have to buckle her in.

Breakfast begins!

Kylie had her first breakfast today. I mixed steamed pears with oatmeal and a little breast milk. She LOVED it and screamed when it was gone. So, I guess I'll do a little more tomorrow! I was really surprised because she nursed for a while this morning and I really thought the oatmeal would be wasted.

She kissed me!

I can usually talk her into giving me a few kisses a day but I have to put my cheek up to her mouth. Just now, I was burping her & she pushed away from my shoulder with her hands, put one hand on my cheek & leaned in & kissed the other one! She did it a few times. It was the most precious thing ever!

Sleep Training - Good For the Whole Family

We started "sleep training" Kylie on Jan. 23rd. We followed the book Sleep Easy Solution. It's been wonderful! She will usually sleep on her own from 8p-7a. She's a super noisy sleeper so she wakes me up 2-3 times a night but it's great to roll over & go back to sleep!

I'm so glad we decided to do it. We actually have some order back to our lives now. There were lots of tears shed but it was so much less than her screaming at us when it was nap time or bed time.

It hasn't even been that long but I already look back & can't believe I was getting up almost every hour with her.

I promise I didn't let her feed herself!

She gets a little too excited about eating. I wanted to share these pics with everyone!

She's a genius

I laid her on her tummy for her afternoon nap. I went to check on her because I was hearing weird noises. The girl had rolled onto her back & turned on her waterfall soother. She didn't whine or cry or anything, just did it.

I got a video!

Maybe there is hope!

She slept almost 2 hrs for her morning nap. She hasn't done that in over 2 months. I'm so proud of her!

Here's a video (I hope I can get it to work) of her waking up from her nap the other day. Her eyes were closed until the very end.

Adventures of our Little Kylie Bug

I decided to try to start a blog so that everyone can follow Kylie's adventures! I wish I would have started earlier, but we're here now. I just hope I can keep it up.
Kylie turned 4 months on New Years Day. I just cannot believe how quickly she is growing. She had her check up a few days ago. She weighed 15lbs 4 oz & was 25 3/4 inches tall.
On my to-do list this week is to venture out & find some 9 month pajamas because she is already outgrowing the 6 month ones I bought in December. Surely she will slow down soon!
I know you are going to ask so I will just tell you now. Her sleep sucks! She got up 7 times from 9pm-9am last night. More on that later!
